Rwanda Rwamatamu Peaberry

Another lot from our fantastic East African specialist supplier, Omwani and this time a Peaberry. Rwamatamu is a family owned and run business that was founded in 2015 with the goals to contribute to the fight against poverty by creating local job opportunities. The estate has 20 hectares of coffee farmland, where it both grows its own crop and purchases cherries from other local cooperatives and smallholder farmers. The farm sits atop rich volcanic soil at 1600 to 2000 metres above sea level. The farm is located near the picturesque rolling hills that flank Lake Kivu. The region provides the perfect tropical highland climate for arabica cultivation. Rwamatamu take great care to invest in the growth of employees, 805 of whom are women. In the cup, expect juicy flavours balanced with notes of apple, blackcurrant and molasses. Suitable for all brewing methods, but really shines when brewed in a cafetière or filter.
