Timor-Leste is a small country in South-East Asia located in between Indonesia and Australia. Coffee was first introduced there by the Portuguese in the 19th century and by the 1900s it had become the country’s leading export. Today the coffee farmers of Timor-Leste are working hard to find a place for Timorese coffee in the ever growing global speciality coffee market. Produced by a small group of smallholder farmers at altitudes between 1500 and 1600 metres above sea level near the  Cristo Liurai mountain in Timor-Leste, this coffee is organically grown under natural shade trees. Due to slightly warmer temperatures the coffee experiences a more concentrated fermentation during processing, this results in a sweet jammy flavour with notes of caramel and vanilla. Suitable for all brewing methods we enjoy it as a filter or cafetiere. Winner of a 1 Star Great Taste Award, the judges said “There is an inviting figgy aroma on the nose. Inviting. On the palate this delivers a really interesting and somewhat unexpected bloom of flavour. No sharp edges, just a pleasing and satisfying blossoming of smooth, slightly sweet notes. Very pleasing.”
