Description

Shantawene is named after the village where the majority of those who work on the farm are from. The farm has won many acoclades including placing 7th (out of more than 1400 entries) in the 2020 Ethiopian Cup of Excellence.  The farm sits at a very high altitude from 1900-2217 metres above sea level, they also buy coffee from various 'out-growers' or small holder farmers in nearby villages. Some of the small holder farms are even higher up in the mountains between 2000-2400 MASL. Once all the coffee is harvested, it is dried in the sun using the 'natural' process. This gives the coffee a unique fruity flavour reminiscent of blueberries. Sweet and balanced, you can also expect hints of lemon, spice and plum. this coffee is best served black to accentuate the juicy acidity and complex flavours. Suitable for all brewing methods.
